Electronic swipe access to buildings and rooms across UNSW is available to approved cardholders using ID Cards and the Security Systems Access Control System.
Entrance to buildings after hours or at weekends must be arranged through the Head of School or Department who will arrange for the issue of after hours access on student or staff ID Cards.
To arrange after hours access the person authorised by the Faculty will email or fax the form to the FM Assist.
Entry to swipe doors defined as Restricted will require special authorisation, which the FM Assist will verify with Security Systems. Some areas of the university require special training before access will be granted.
For buildings without electronic access control, entry can be arranged through the Head of School or Department who will need to have this added to the Security Schedule of Events.
Any person found inside a building after hours without an access card (with their Name and Photo on it) will be asked to leave the building immediately.
No one should work alone in a laboratory or other potentially dangerous area outside normal working hours without the approval of the Head of School or Department concerned and without informing the Security Control Centre. (Phone 9385 6000, or Extension 56000).
