Safe Work Method Statements

Safe work method statements (SWMS) are written agreed work practices that can be communicated to all members of a work group. A SWMS should only be developed after a complete risk assessment has been carried out and all identified control measures are in place. Consultation with the work group is vital in developing effective and acceptable work methods.
