Accommodation Planning

Accommodation Planning facilitates the efficient management of University space to avoid unnecessary capital expenditure on both existing and new works. This is achieved through accommodation strategies for each of the faculties and divisions. the accommodation strategies provide a context and rationale for project planning.

The key objectives of Accommodation Planning are to:

• Align accommodation needs with service delivery objectives
• Improve the quality of teaching, learning and working environments
• Improve the capital value of assets
• Improve the utilisation of space
• Determine the appropriateness of acquired or leased assets
• Reduce the costs of “churn” (the movement and relocation of employees)
• Distribute space more equitably based on functionality, not seniority or grade.
• Improve staff /student satisfaction and productivity.
