Novated Lease
UNSW offers fully maintained salary sacrifice vehicles (new or used) under a lease referred to as a Novated Lease. A Novated lease is a financial agreement made and held in the name of the employee. UNSW has engaged the services of a specialist Motor Vehicle Fleet Management Company, LeasePlan, to manage all aspects of the lease. While the employee remains in the employment of UNSW the payment of monthly lease costs, which will include all operating costs, will be paid by UNSW to LeasePlan. Upon leaving the employment of the University, the payment obligation will immediately revert to the employee.
A Novated lease is available to all full-time and part-time employees of UNSW. Fixed-term employees should consider carefully their employment prospects with UNSW before committing to any financial arrangement in relation to this program.
Employees are advised to seek professional, financial advice in respect to the cost and tax effectiveness of the Novated Lease for their particular situation before committing to a Novation Agreement because neither LeasePlan nor UNSW will accept any responsibility in this regard.

Options
Employees are able to apply for a fully managed novated finance lease, with the option of:
- Using pre-tax standard statutory fraction method (paying Fringe Benefits Tax)
- Using the post-tax Contribution method (whereby the post-tax deductions offset the Fringe Benefits Tax)
